At The Luminary Press, we look at written work with an open mind and provide a fair assessment as to its publication potential. In our opinion, it is the role of a publisher to give readers something interesting and well-thought out to read, not decide what they should think based on a personal bias or a popular agenda. We aim to bring some more balance to the publishing landscape by giving a voice to subjects that some traditional publishers have recently excluded.  

 

Most importantly, we respect your vision as an author and it is our privilege to bring it to life. Creating a written work takes time, dedication and courage. We are committed to respecting our authors' original ideas and allowing them to retain creative control of their material. Some traditional publishers and editors can make decisions about manuscripts that drastically alter the structure, characters and/or meaning of a book, often to align with the publishing houses' personal values or agenda. We are strongly opposed to this practice! While we recognize that editing is an important part of polishing a manuscript, we do so in a way that respects the source material and the author's vision. If we feel a particular work does not fit with our values, we simply won't publish it.

Lastly, we publish books based on the quality of the work. We are not interested in the author's personal characteristics, and believe that literature should be able to stand on it's own merit. Please consult our FAQ section for answers to additional questions.
