Submission Guidelines

We are currently seeking:

 

Young Adult and Adult FICTION in the following genres: ​

• Fantasy

• Science fiction

• Mystery and Thriller

• Drama

• Literary Fiction

• Magical Realism

• Historical Fiction

• Christian and Spiritual Fiction

• Light Romance 

• Stories based on actual events

 

Children's literature and middle-grade fiction with content that encourages and centres around positive messaging, character building, traditional values and morals.

Picture books (illustrated and non-illustrated)

NON-FICTION in the following subjects

• Spirituality

• Astronomy

• Science

• Political Science (conservative voices welcome)

• History

• Archaeology

• Biography

• Wellness

• Family and Motherhood

We are NOT seeking:

• High romance with overly sexualized content or romanticized violence (positive romantic themes are always welcome)

• Middle-grade fiction with sexual content or themes

• Books which encourage hateful or antisocial behaviours, ideologies or lifestyles, or promote division and hatred toward any group of people. 

• Books that slander or demean

• Cookbooks

• Comics or graphic novels

• Screenplays

The Luminary Press is committed to unbiased decision-making and recognition of quality submissions. As such, we will not give special treatment to any work based on the personal characteristics of the author/illustrator. Any query which attempts to identify such characteristics (such as race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, etc.) in an attempt to gain an advantage will be eliminated from the consideration process. Submissions will be considered solely on their merit.

Query Instructions:

 

Send all queries to info@theluminarypress.com. Please include the word "QUERY", followed by the name of your work and your last name in the subject line.

The Luminary Press accepts only online submissions.  Your query letter should include your name, contact information, city of residence, title of your submission, type of work (fiction. non-fiction, etc.), genre, total word count, summary of your work, and a short biography. It should also indicate if your work has been previously published elsewhere. 

 

Fiction and Non-Fiction Submissions:

We will only consider work that has a completed manuscript.

Please send a query letter in the body of your e-mail, as well as the first 25 pages of your manuscript in a Word or PDF attachment. Do not send a full manuscript with a query.

Picture Books:

Please submit a query letter in the body of your email., as well as the full manuscript in a Word or PDF document. For illustrated picture books, submit one PDF document.​​
